The stars of telethon – 2013
Telethon is known world wide as a charity event to banish poverty , help sick kids and bring a lending hand to all in need. Telethon 2013 in Western Australia has just started over the weekend and has brought in stars from all over Australia and overseas and is said to raise a record number of money this year. The telethon 2012 raised over 14 million, and it is quite likely that the record from last year can be beaten
Telethon in WA 2013
Australia’s biggest annual Telethon will be run on Channel Seven and GWN7 over the weekend of 19 & 20 October.
To date, Telethon has raised over $133 million through the kind generosity of the people of Western Australia.

Volunteer for telethon 2013
Applicants applying please note the following:
– Volunteers must be over 18 years of age;
– Volunteers must be able to get themselves to and from the Sunday Times Phone Room in Stirling Street, Perth;
– Free parking is provided by the City of Perth;
– Shifts consist of approximately 3.5 hours;
– For on-camera TV purposes, we ask that volunteers purchase a t-shirt for $19.95 each – proceeds go to Telethon. These will need to be paid for and collected together with your In formation Pack on Saturday 12 October from Channel 7 Studios in Dianella between 10.00am and 12 midday.
What is telethon WA
The Channel 7 Telethon Trust is a registered charitable trust dedicated to raising funds to improve the lives of children and young people throughout Western Australia. Its philosophy is to financially support the medical and social welfare of children and young people, and to fund research into children’s diseases.
Since its inception in 1968, Telethon has raised over $133 million and provided much needed financial assistance to a significant number of charitable organisations, children’s hospitals and research/medical facilities in Western Australia.

The Haiti telethon held in 2010 was star studded with phone banks manned by the likes of Charlize Theron, Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts, Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Cindy Crawford, Ben Affleck, Sigourney Weaver, Ringo Starr and Jack Nicholson – to name a select few. Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Simmons, Zac Efron, Billy Crystal, Gerard Butler, Neil Patrick Harris, LL Cool J and Selena Gomez were also there
MDA Telethon (sept 2013)
The MDA TELETHON (Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon) was star-studded with performances by The Backstreet Boys, country stars Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker and Lee Ann Womack, Glee star Matthew Morrison, Enrique Iglesias, Paula Abdul, Artists also included Austin Mahone, the hip-hop dance crew Jabbawockeez, the American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez, music legend Kenny Loggin
Stand Up to Cancer telethon ( sept 2012)
In attendance , Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Justin Timberlake, Sofia Vergara and Olympic gold medalists Gabrielle Douglas and Missy Franklin and also stars like participants such as Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, Jessica Biel, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Seth Rogen, Emma Stone and Gwyneth Paltrow.
The cable channels carrying the telethon are BIO, Encore, HBO, Showtime, HBO Latino, ION Television, LMN, Logo, MLB Network, Mun2, Palladia, Starz, TBS, Smithsonian and VH1.
Labor Day Telethon starring Jerry Lewis
Since 1966, Jerry Lewis has helped raise more than $2 billion for “Jerry’s Kids.”
