City of Perth is Australia’s top eTown
Google has just announced Perth as the leader in the digital boom in Australia. Perth is well known for being the centre of the mining boom, with an abundance of iron ore and other minerals , but its now playing its part in the online digital boom as well according to Google.
This Google award recognises and ranks those communities which are leading in competition against the rest of the country in having its small businesses use the web to connect with customers and grow. This could be having a online business and also using google adwords advertising to promote it. This also could be seen as a way for google to promote awareness about tits google adwords advertising from which google gets a substantial part of its revenue.

Research group Deloitte Access Economics has forecast the digital economy to grow by $20 billion to $70 billion by 2016 and says the digital economy is already worth as much as Australia’s iron ore exports
The internet search giant says Perth led the city rankingsahead of Yarra in Victoria, Adelaide in South Australia and North Sydney and Ryde in NSW.
Google looked at more than 600 local government areas to analyse which communities had the highest proportion of small businesses who are either using Google AdWords to find customers, or have created a website using the free Getting Aussie Business Online tool.
